Bail plea of SL leader Jamal scrapped

A Dhaka court has scrapped a bail plea filed by Swechchhasebak League (SL) leader Sheikh Jamal in a case lodged over the murder of Juba Dal leader Shamim, reports BSS.

Acting judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Ibrahim Miah passed the order on Wednesday.

A team of detective branch (DB) arrested Jamal, also a journalist by profession, from his Moghbazar home on October 24.

According to the case documents, BNP called a grand rally on October 28, 2023. Awami League (AL) also called its own rally in the capital to foil this programme. At one stage, AL activists, with the help of police, attacked the BNP's rally in Naya Paltan, killing Shamim on the spot.
