Barrister Abdur Razzaq passes away

Barrister Abdur Razzaq, former assistant secretary general of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami passed away at a hospital in the capital on Sunday. He was 74, reports UNB.
Razzaq, also a senior lawyer of the Supreme Court (SC), breathed his last around 4:10 pm at Ibne Sina Hospital, said Advocate Sishir Monir in his verified facebook post.
He had been undergoing treatment since April 21 due to illness.
Razzaq was survived by his two sons, two daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
He returned to Bangladesh from the United Kingdom on December 26, 2024, after 11 years. He has since resumed his legal practice at the SC as a senior advocate.
Barrister Razzaq had left the country on December 18, 2013, for the UK.
Prior to that, he had served as a lead defense lawyer for top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami in war crimes cases at the International Crimes Tribunal.
He was born in the village of Shekhlal in Mathiura union of Beanibazar Upazila of Sylhet district in 1944.
