BCL leader held, tension erupts at Shahbag

A leader of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was detained by police after playing Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's March 7 speech in the Dhaka University (DU) area on Saturday. The detention later triggered tension, as several BCL leaders attempted to protest and continue broadcasting the speech between 9:30 pm and 11:30 pm in front of Shahbag Police Station (PS).

Earlier in the afternoon, police detained Asif Ahmed along with a sound system from Chankharpul area of the capital for playing the March 7 speech. He is a former student of the 2018-19 session of DU Physics Department.
