Bernicat urges all parties to participate in election

US envoy Marcia Bernicat said on Monday free, fair, participatory and transparent election would be the key to any democracy's well-being.

She urged the all parties to participate in election peacefully, as Bangladesh will soon go to parliamentary polls.

Credible election should be held so that every party can participate in the election, they can hold meetings and rallies. There should be a credible opposition for credible election, she said.

The envoy was talking to reporters after a view exchange meeting with Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed at his Secretariat office. She said the people of Bangladesh believe that peaceful elections and politics will lead to a brighter future for everyone in Bangladesh.

She mentioned that every party has the right to represent in a constituency.

The outgoing US envoy expressed her hope that the national elections would be held in a free and fair atmosphere.
