BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed has condemned the vandalism and looting of businesses in different parts of the country during the anti-Israel protests on Monday.
He also criticised the interim government for failing to take prior measure to tackle the untoward incidents.
"We want to say that the failure of the government and the law enforcement agencies was noticeable here. You (government) should have taken measures in advance," he said while addressing a pro-Palestinian rally, organised by Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chatradal (JCD) in front of the Raju Memorial Sculpture on the Dhaka University campus in the capital on Tuesday.
However, BNP leader Ahmed said the ousted Awami League government had earlier recognised Israel.

"They (Awami League) withdrew the word Israel from the instructions on Bangladeshi passports to travel to all countries except Israel. That means they recognised Israel indirectly. But they shed crocodile tears for the Muslims," he went on.
Hasina's government had purchased the Pegasus eavesdropping device and spyware from Israel, said Ahmed, adding that "No matter where Hasina takes refuge today, the people of Bangladesh will denounce this Awami League."
He also appealed to the Muslim world to raise voices in favour of the oppressed Muslims and take measures to stop big powers for not supporting Israel.
He demanded an immediate end to the genocide in Palestine.
BNP also expressed deep concern over the passive role of the United Nations in the ongoing Israeli barbaric attack on Gaza.
These Israelis, who took refuge in the Palestinian state through the western conspiracy after the First World War and the Second World War, are today making Palestinians refugees in their own country.
However, all the superpowers of the world remain silent against this genocide, he said criticising the US role favouring Israel.
BNP Student Affairs Secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul also spoke at the event and condemned those states that remain silent even after such genocides.
JCD president Rakibul Islam Rakib recalled slain President Ziaur Rahman's role and his support to Palestinian people. He also denounced the Indian government's controversial waqf bill.
The rally was moderated by JCD General Secretary Nasir Uddin.
