BNP Ctg city president Dr Shahdat out on bail

CHITTAGONG, Mar 14 (UNB): Over a month after his arrest, Chittagong city unit BNP president Dr Shahdat Hossain was released on bail from jail on Wednesday.

He walked out of the Chittagong Central Jail around 10:40am after the bail order reached the jail authorities, Chittagong divisional BNP organising secretary Mahbubur Rahman Shamim said.

Some BNP leaders and activists received Shahdat at the jail gate.

Later, Shahdat straight went to the party office at Nasiman Bhaban in Kajir Dewri area, Shamim added.

Police had arrested Shahdat and some other BNP leaders on February 8 in front of the BNP office following a clash between law enforcers and BNP followers.

Later, two cases were filed against Shahdat and others in connection with the incident.

He was also shown arrested in another case filed in connection with Khaleda Zia's motorcade attack in Feni.
