Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has condemned Indian home minister's comments on Bangladeshis.

The party made the remarks at a meeting of its standing committee last week, according to a press release signed by party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday.

The Indian union home minister Amit Shah during a meeting at Jharkhand state, India recently said the BJP will free Jharkhand from 'Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators' and hang them 'upside down'.

"Due to fear of losing their vote bank, the JMM, RJD and Congress do not stop infiltration. If you change the government of Jharkhand, I promise that the BJP will send out all the Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators from Jharkhand, one by one," said Mr Amit Shah.

BNP also expressed concern over the recent violent incidents in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

"Even after the fall of fascist Sheikh Hasina, the incidents (in CHT) were intentionally created and politically motivated to destabilise the interim government," said the statement.

"The violent incidents happened in the hill districts are a threat to the country's sovereignty and independence and there is no scope to see these incidents lightly," it said.

The meeting also recommended convening a national convention with the participation of leaders of political parties as well as leaders at CHT for restoring peace and stability at the hill tracts.

It said the collaborators of the fascist Sheikh Hasina are engaged in creating unrest in the country by carrying out attacks on the places of worships.

The party also demanded arrests of those responsible for attacks on places of worships.

UNB add: BNP demanded cancellation of the Union Parishads (UPs) formed under what it described as the fascist government of Sheikh Hasina.

The party policymakers decided that holding a free, fair, and impartial national election is impossible keeping the Union Parishads in place.

The BNP standing committee meeting was held at the party's Chairperson's Gulshan Office and Tarique Rahman joined it from London through a virtual platform.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Salahuddin Ahmed, Selima Rahman, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and AZM Zahid Hossain were present
