Former Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP joint convener Mosharraf Hossain Khokon has been sent to jail after a court rejected his bail petition in a decade-old sabotage case, report agencies.
The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Court issued the order on Sunday after Mosharraf surrendered before the court.
Mosharraf's lawyer, Rafiqul Islam Khan, said, "A Dhaka court sentenced Mosharraf Hossain Khokonto three and a half years in a case of burning a passenger vehicle in 2013. However, this vehicle does not exist. Today, when Mosharraf Hossain surrendered in that case and applied for bail, the court rejected the application and ordered him to be sent to jail."
The case was filed with Lalbagh Police Station in November 2013 on charges of sabotage.
A charge sheet was submitted on Sept 31, 2015, naming 75 people.
