The BNP has dissolved the central committee of Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB), the physicians' body of the party, reports UNB.
The party has also formed a 12-member preparatory and management committee for the upcoming DAB council, said a press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Monday.
"The existing central committee of DAB, led by President Professor Harun Al Rashid and General Secretary Dr Md Abdus Salam, has been dissolved," the press release said.
Professor Harun Al Rashid was elected President and Dr Md Abdus Salam was elected General Secretary of DAB through direct voting by councilors on 26 May 2019.
The tenure of the committee was due to expire on 25 May 2024.
The newly-formed preparatory and management committee has been tasked with completing the council proceedings within the next 45 days.
