BNP files complaint with ICT over killing 848 activists

The BNP has brought allegations against 500 people, including ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, to the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) over the killings of 848 party leaders and activists nationwide during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement in July and August last year, report agencies.

The complaint was filed with the ICT's chief prosecutor in the capital on Thursday, said Salauddin Khan, coordinator of the BNP's case and information cell.

Of the victims, 524 were leaders and activists of BNP and 324 were the relatives of the party men, he added.

Alongside Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former law minister Anisul Huq, former state minister for information Mohammad Ali Arafat former IGP Abdullah Al Mamun, and former director general of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB were named in the complaint.
