CHATTOGRAM, Sept 07 (BSS): Information Minister and Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud today came down heavily on opposition party BNP saying that the party shouldn't speak against corruption since under BNP's regime Bangladesh became champion as corrupted country for five consecutive times in the world.
The minister said the party which made Bangladesh disgraced before the world has no right and justification to question about corruption.
He asserted that the present government is unbending to any kinds of graft saying there is no involvement of any politician or public representatives in either pillow or screen corruption.
"The Prime Minister has adopted zero tolerance policy against corruption.
Some government officials and employees who have been found guilty in the 'pillow corruption' have already been brought to justice and the persons in 'screen corruption' must be brought to book," the minister told the journalists after attending as chief guest a prize giving ceremony of
debate club Drishti at Theater Institute Chattogram this afternoon.
Referring to BNP secretary general Mirza Fakrul Islam Alamgir's claim that there is no development but the great festival of corruption is on in the country, Dr Hasan said its top leader Khaleda Zia had whitened the black money and was sentenced to ten years' rigorous imprisonment and her son Afarfat Rahman Khuku's corruption has been detected in Singapore.
"The entire political leadership of BNP which had been reeling under immense corruption is incompatible to speak about graft of pillow and screen," the Minister said.
In reply to query of a journalist, Dr Hasan said the turmoil inside the Jatiya Party is their internal matter and probed that the problem is temporary and the crisis aroused would soon be resolved with their united efforts.

He said around one lakh Rohingyas had gone to Saudi Arabia with Bangladeshi passport during the BNP regime for whom Bangladesh had to face problems in Saudi Arabia.
The minister said the government is moving on the right path with its all-out diplomatic endeavours on Rohingya repatriation issue and it has involved the international community for an amicable settlement.
He asserted that the persons who would be found in providing Bangladeshi passports among the Rohingyas must face rigorous punishment.
Earlier, speaking at the prize giving ceremony of the debate competition, the Information Minister said debating is an integral part of a democratic society and such a society could not sustain without debate.
"The importance of debate is immense for establishing democratic and justice based society," Dr Hasan added.
