A Dhaka court on Tuesday acquitted BNP Chairperson's Adviser Zainul Abedin Faruque from a case, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for not submitting wealth statement, reports BSS.
Dhaka Divisional Special Judge S M Ziaur Rahman passed the order, as the
prosecution 'failed to prove the charges framed against Faruque'.
According to the case documents, the ACC in 1999 issued a notice, asking
Zainul Abedin Faruque to submit his wealth statement from July 9 to August 22
of that year. But the former lawmaker failed to submit the statement.
The ACC on January 19, 2000, filed a case against the BNP leader and submitted a charge-sheet on June 17, 2001.
The court framed charges against him on March 23, 2006, initiating the trial officially.
A total of three witnesses were examined in the trial.
