FE REPORT

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is going to organise the 'Shadhinota Concert' on April 11 in four cities, including Dhaka, to promote local traditions and reduce the dominance of foreign culture, particularly Hindi.

Currently there is a culture of not evaluating local artistes. 'Shobar Agey Bangladesh Foundation' has organised the concert with the performances of local artistes to promote them, BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku told reporters after visiting the Dhaka venue on Manik Mia Avenue on Friday.

The BNP Publicity Secretary said there are talented cultural figures in Bangladesh. They have already been able to showcase their performance to the world. But unfortunately, during the previous fascist regime, many were not given the opportunity to perform.

"We think we have to awaken Bangladesh, we have to showcase Bangladesh," he added, saying that they want to showcase native cultural heritage to the new generation and this is their effort to retain it in their minds.

During the visit, the BNP leader complained that during the previous government, artistes from India were brought in at various state events, neglecting local talents. And now Pakistani artists are being brought in, which is very sad.

Tuku said, "Our aim is to give local artistes an opportunity to perform as we have many talented ones." They have showcased Bangladesh to the world with their best performance.

"We want to evaluate these talents as well as showcase our own culture and heritage."

No party identity was considered in this case.

He further said only the best artistes have been kept for the concert. Those who have spoken against the BNP in the past have not been left out. "We will walk the path with everyone to build a new Bangladesh," he added.

This BNP central leader said this concert will be organised in four venues including Dhaka on April 11, but in phases in the remaining divisions and district headquarters.

He sought the cooperation of the media to make the event a success and urged the general public of Dhaka Division to participate.

The upcoming concert will take place simultaneously in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, and Bogura.

Esteemed bands and artistes--James, Feedback, Shironamhin, Miles, Warfaze, Artcell, Asif Akbar, and Tahsan are scheduled to perform. In addition, local artistes will present regional songs and traditions.
