Information Minister and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASAD) President Hasanul Haq Inu on Friday said BNP is trying to skip the next national polls making an issue over its Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's release from jail, reports BSS.

"There is no barrier for BNP to take part in the next general election. The party (BNP) is trying to make Khaleda Zia's release a pre-condition (for polls)," he told a meeting after paying tributes to JASAD leader Kazi Aref Ahmed on the occasion of his 19th death anniversary here, an official release said.

Khaleda Zia has been convicted in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case, Inu said, adding the court will decide her fate.

He said the JASAD is doing politics to free the country from corruption. JASAD General Secretary Shirin Akhtar and other leaders and activists of the party, among others, addressed the meeting with JASAD city unit (West) President Mainur Rahman in the chair.
