CAAB chief engr Sudhendu removed ‘for irregularities’

FE REPORT | February 28, 2020 00:00:00

Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry has relieved Chief Engineer of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Sudhendu Bikash Goswami of his post on various charges of irregularities.

A letter issued by joint secretary Zanendra Nath Sarker said Mr Sudhendu was sent into retirement for the sake of public interest as his service period has crossed 25 years.

The order issued on February 25 will come into effect immediately.

Talking to the FE, Mr Zanendra said there are about four methods to remove any government official after 25 years of service.

Mr Sudhendu still has two years of service; yet he was forced into retirement due to various allegations brought against him.

"We have removed him firstly to inquire into various allegations against him. Any action can't be taken keeping him in his post," he said.

Sources said Mr Sudhendu was forced into retirement on charges of corruption in various development projects undertaken by CAAB.

He has been replaced by Abdul Maleq.
