Case against 109 for attempt on N'ganj mayor's life

NARAYANGANJ, Jan 23 (UNB): Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) filed on Tuesday a case against nine named people and 100 others unnamed for attempting to kill the mayor, Selina Hayat Ivy, during a clash at Chashara intersection of the city on January 16.

The case was filed with Sadar thana this morning accusing nine people, including Niazul Islam, who was exposed in media photos carrying arms during the clash in broad day light, said Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge (OC) of thana.

At least 50 people were injured in the clash between hawkers and the followers of NCC mayor Ivy during an eviction drive at Chashara intersection of the city.

Both the groups locked into a fierce clash when gunshots were also heard, said witnesses.
