Charge-sheet against 13 officials gets ACC nod

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday approved charge-sheet in a case against 13 railway officials for their alleged link to illegal recruitment of auditors in accounts department of the Railway Eastern region.

According to the case statement, five high officials working at audit department of Bangladesh Railway, including Nazrul Islam, ABM Mafizul Islam, GM Mamunur Rashid, AFM Shaidullah and Anisul Haque, were in the selection committee to recruit auditors for the accounts department of the Railway Eastern zone.

Abusing their powers as selection committee members, the five officials illegally recommended enrollment of eight candidates for auditor position to gain personal benefits.

The eight recruited auditors are Farzana Sultana, Hosna Akter, Nurul Amin, Shanchita Sadek, Apurba Bishwas, GM Abul Kalam, Md Maniruzzaman and Pradip Kumar Sarker.

ACC headquarters deputy director Md Nasir Uddin filed the case on March 10, 2017 according to the Sections 166/167/217/109 of the Penal Codes and Section 5(2) of the Corruption Prevention Act, 1947.
