Maj Gen (retd) A L M Fazlur Rahman, Chief of the National Independent Investigation Commission, speaking at a view-exchange meeting with the families of the officials, slain during the BDR mutiny 2009, at RAWA Club in the capital on Monday. — Focus Bangla The National Independent Investigation Commission Chief Maj Gen (retd) ALM Fazlur Rahman on Monday said if permission is given, they will try to talk with former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by visiting India as part of the move to reinvestigate BDR (Bangladesh Rifles, now Border Guard Bangladesh) carnage took place on February 25-26, 2009, reports BSS.
"For the purpose of the investigation, the commission will go to India and interrogate Sheikh Hasina if the government gives us permission," he said in a views-exchange meeting with the BDR mutiny martyr families at the Retired Armed Forces Officers Welfare Association (RAOWA) club in the city.
Fazlur Rahman, also former DG of the force, said everyone should have faith in the commission, which was formed after the interim government came to power.
He urged every martyr family of the BDR massacre in which 74 people, including 57 army officers, were killed, to cooperate as much evidence of the Pilkhana carnage was destroyed in 16 years (during the Awami League regime).
The commission chief also said the National Independent Investigation Commission on the BDR massacre will be impartial.
"The tasks of investigation will be carried out impartially with the cooperation of everyone," he said.
The family members of the victims and the survivors of Pilkhana carnage and former army officers participated in an open discussion during the views-exchange meeting.
