Cops arrest 19 BNP, Jamaat men in three dists

Police in separate drives arrested 19 activists of BNP and Jamaat from Narayanganj, Narail and Khulna on Sunday, report agencies.

In Narayanganj, detectives arrested 11 leaders and activists of BNP from different areas of the upazila early Sunday. Abul Bashar Badsha, Rupganj municipality mayor, and Salauddin, vice-president of Sonargaon municipality unit of BNP, were among the arrestees.

Besides, police arrested ten other BNP men including Salauddin from Sonargaon upazila on charges of carrying out sabotage, said, Sharafat Ullat, inspector of special branch of police. Meanwhile, police detained senior vice president of Narail BNP and former mayor of Narail municipality Zulfiker Ali.

In Khulna, police arrested seven leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami under different cases at Koyra upazila.
