NARAYANGANJ, Jan 23 (UNB): Police arrested BNP leader Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker outside the district court in connection with a violence case on Tuesday afternoon.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Fatulla thana Md Kamal Uddin said they arrested Taimur Alam Khandaker, member of the advisory council of party chief Khaleda Zia, around 1:15 pm in a case filed for instigating violence during the non-stop blockade of BNP- led alliance in 2015.
During the detention of Taimur, president of Narayanganj district unit of BNP, a scuffle took place between law enforcers and local BNP-backed lawyers, witnesses said.
When police arrested him, Taimur was campaigning for the BNP backed panel at the court for the upcoming Narayanganj Bar Association polls on January 30.
