Cops nab three Jamaat leaders in Chattogram

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 06, (BSS): Chattogram Metropolitan Police arrested three leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami from different area in the city on charges of plotting subversive acts on Tuesday.

The detainees are Pahartali thana Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Dr Shahdat Hossain (50) and Bakalia thana Jamaat leaders Mohammad Omar Faruk (45) and Saifur Rahman Palash (29).

Jamaat leaders Omar Faruk and Saifur Rahman along with some others were holding a secret meeting to commit subversive activities in Rahatarpool area, said Pranab Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Bakalia thana .

A number of documents for committing subversive activities were recovered from their possession during the drive, Pronob added.

Meanwhile, Pahartali thana police detained Jammat leader Dr Shahdat

Hossain from his residence at about 5.30 am.
