Court sends ex-MP Mukti to jail after remand ends

A Dhaka court has sent former MP from Narail-1 constituency BM Kabirul Haque and Awami League (AL)'s central executive member Md Mozammel Haque to jail in connection with a case, reports BSS.
They were placed on a six-day remand in the case filed by Gulshan Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act for raising provocative slogans on September 22.
Police produced them before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Wednesday after a six-day remand ended.
After hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah rejected the bail prayers of the duo and ordered to send them to jail.
Earlier, on September 24, at around 9:00 pm, Gulshan Police arrested them in the capital's Niketan area.
The next day, on September 25, they were produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court. The court granted them a six-day remand.
According to the case dockets, they along with the leaders and workers of the banned AL and Bangladesh Chhatra League brought out a procession on the southern bridge of Dr. Fazle Rabbi Park under Gulshan Police Station around 1:30 pm on September 12.
During the procession, they (the protesters) chanted provocative slogans aimed at destabilising the state and tried to vandalise vehicles on the road, creating fear in the public mind, the police claimed.
