Criminals won't be able to flee country, says home minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said on Monday those who are involved in criminal activities will face stern action, reports BSS.

"I am not bothered whether it is small or big fries and they would be punished if he or she commits any crime," he told the journalists at his office at the Secretariat.

Referring to the arrest of some Awami League lawmakers, he said none will be spared if he or she commits any crime.

The government launched different drives against illegal business and tender manipulation; he said.

"Our intelligence agencies have been working on it and collecting information about illegal business and tender manipulations, " he added.

Asked whether they have issued red alert at airports or land ports so that criminals who have gone into hiding cannot flee the country, Asaduzzaman said nothing happened so far for which red alert should be issued.

"All the airports and immigration offices have lists of criminals provided by the ministry," he said.
