A scuffle followed by bomb blast has occurred between two BNP factions in Rajshahi City, reports bdnews24 .com.
Police said the incident took place around 7:00 pm on Friday.
Witnesses said the clash followed a preparatory election meeting at the ward BNP office.
Former councillor Ruhul Amin Tunu attended as a senior BNP leader, prompting Ward President Rakib Uddin Tutul to express anger over his presence. Tutul and his supporters left the meeting shouting slogans, sparking the confrontation.
Shortly after Tutul left, 30 to 40 people armed with sticks attacked the office, and a crude bomb was detonated outside.
Tunu said he had been temporarily expelled for contesting the last city election, but the high command lifted the expulsion on November 24.
"I attended the meeting at Rubel's invitation. What happened is very sad," he said.
Police said no formal complaints have been filed.
