Ctg court rejects bail petition of former OC Pradwip

CHATTOGRAM Sept 20: The court rejected the bail petition of the former officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf thana of Cox's Bazar in connection with a case filed by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).

The court of the Chattogram Senior Special Session Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman rejected the petition on Sunday.

Advocate Sanwar Hossain Lavlo, lawyer of the ACC said, "We have submitted an appeal before the court for issuing order to crock Pradwip's assets."

ACC filed case against Pradwip Kumar Das and his wife Chumki Karon for possessing illegal assets on August 23.

Assistant Director of ACC Chattogram district office-1 Md Reaj Uddin filed the case.

According to the first information report (FIR) of the case, Pradwip Kumar Das and his wife Chumki Karon possessed illegal assets of taka 39.5 million.

ACC started investigation against Pradwip Kumar Das and his wife Chumki Karon in 2018 and directed to submit the list of assets to them. They submitted the list and account on May in 2019. Later, after investigation, the ACC officials found their illegal assets and filed the case against them.

It is alleged that Pradwip Kumar Das earned huge money and assets illegally during his tenure as OC in Patenga, Baizid and Panchlaish thana in Chattogram and Teknaf thana in Cox's Bazar. He used to take money from people by threatening to kill them in crossfires or implicate them in false cases.
