DNCC removes 148 tonnes of waste from Tarique's reception venue

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) authorities along with BNP leaders and activists have removed a total of 148 tonnes of waste from city's Purbachal 300-feet road, following a mass gathering organised by BNP on return of Bangladesh Nationalist Party's (BNP) acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
The DNCC conducted a special cleaning program on Friday morning to remove the waste generated at the assembly site, according to a press release issued by the DNCC authorities.
A total of 350 DNCC cleaning workers participated in the program under the instruction of DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz, it mentioned.
As part of the cleanliness drive, waste collected in a total of 148 tonnes were safely dumped at the capital's Aminbazar landfill by 20 trucks and the entire assembly area was cleaned and made suitable for public use by noon.
During the cleaning activities, a number of BNP leaders and activists voluntarily joined the DNCC cleaning drive.
DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz thanked everyone who participated in the cleanliness drive, saying: "We are grateful to everyone including BNP leaders and activists for participating in our cleaning drive since the morning throughout this winter."
He further said: "With everyone's collective participation, we will be able to keep this city clean."
A post in the BNP's verified Facebook page said, "All waste generated in the 'July 36 Expressway (300 feet highway)', Airport Road, and surrounding areas on the occasion of the historic homecoming of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, was removed under the voluntary initiative of Dhaka City North BNP." After more than 17 years, Acting Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Tarique Rahman returned to the country.
To mark his return to the country, millions of activists, leaders and supporters of BNP gathered at the 300-feet reception programme, marking his return to the country.
