Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif said on Saturday Jatiya Oikya Front leader Dr Kamal Hossain has joined hands with BNP and Jamaat for becoming the president of the country, reports BSS.

"He has joined hands with BNP-Jamaat, terrorists and convicted criminals for becoming the president. He has indulged in a dream to become the president," he said.

Hanif came up with the observations while addressing a function organised to unveil the cover of a book titled "Bangabandhu-Bangladesh Ek O Avinno" at the VIP Lounge of the National Press Club in the city.

"One journalist on Friday asked Oikya Front leaders who would be their prime minister if they come to power. They said they will decide that later and time will determine that. They are feeling shy to answer the question. They know if they become winner, they have to make Tarique Rahman, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in August 21 grenade attack case, the prime minister," Hanif said.

Expressing his surprise over the mum kept by Jatiya Oikya Front leaders after the mayhem carried out by BNP leaders and activists in the capital's Nayapaltan on Wednesday, where two vehicles of police were set ablaze and several others were damaged, Hanif further said, it proved that although Dr Kamal Hossain is the leader of the platform, all the mechanisms are being controlled from London.

Presided over by Sabujbagh thana Awami League general secretary Lion Chittaranjan Das, the function was also addressed by Dhaka city (south) Awami League general secretary Shahe Alam Murad, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) general secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury, Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) general secretary Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo, Advocate Balram Poddar and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote general secretary Arun Sarker Rana, among others.
