Dhaka University (DU) authorities withdrew on Wednesday its previous order expelling Iffat Jahan Isha, a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League's Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall unit, as its probe body found 'no evidence of torture on a student inside the hall' by Isha, report agencies.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Disciplinary Committee of the university, with DU vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.
The committee has decided to withdraw the expulsion order as the university probe committee found no evidence of carrying out 'torture' on a student of the same hall, said DU Proctor Golam Rabbani.
Meanwhile, show-cause notices were issued on 26 other students of the hall as the probe body found their involvement in the incident, VC Akhtaruzzaman said.
On April 11, the DU authorities expelled Isha, president of Sufia Kamal hall unit of BCL, as some BCL activists led by Isha allegedly swooped on some residents of the hall, leaving Morsheda Akhter, a 4th year student of Botany Department, critically injured.
