EC assures of executing court rule on reg soon: Jamaat leader

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad has said the Election Commission (EC) has responded positively to their request for reinstating the party's registration and electoral symbol, the Scale (Daripalla), reports BSS.

"The EC has assured us that it will take only the necessary time to complete the official procedure to implement the court's verdict in this regard," he said.

He was speaking to journalists after a Jamaat delegation led by him met Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin and other commissioners at the EC headquarters in the capital's Agargaon on Monday.

The Jamaat leader said, "We placed our statement to the EC and requested not to delay the procedures, as this issue is tied to the emotions of millions of people."
