EC extends postal voting registration up to Jan 5

The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday extended the deadline for registration and application under the postal voting system until January 5, marking the final extension, according to an EC statement.

The previous deadline was December 31. EC data show that the number of voters registered through the "Postal Vote BD" application exceeded 1.05 million as of 4:00pm on Tuesday, with around 0.45 million registrations coming from within Bangladesh.

The postal voting facility was introduced to facilitate the participation of Bangladeshi voters living abroad, as well as those unable to be physically present in their constituencies during the polling period.
