Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader asked the students on Saturday to realise the ground reality that education is needed for life, not for livelihood, reports BSS.
"Educational institutions have been reopened in different countries in the world including Europe and it resulted in increase in virus transmission. In the light of that experience, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is intensely observing the matter of reopening the educational institutions," he said.
Quader, also Awami League general secretary, was addressing a discussion, joining it virtually from his official residence in Dhaka, on "Bangabandhu: lighthouse of Bangalees' conscience" at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University at Trishal in Mymensingh.
After considering the whole situation, he said, when congenial atmosphere will prevail, the educational institutions will be reopened.
"Life comes as first priority, then building of future. If we remain alive, we can do everything," he said urging the students and guardians to show patience to this end.
Turning to contemporary politics, the AL general secretary laid emphasis on breaking down the walls of discrimination and forging the bridge of amity to take ahead the country towards a new horizon of golden achievements.
As BNP believes in negative politics, it cannot stand the bold and good initiatives of the government, he said adding that BNP sees darkness even in moonlit night as it has lost people's confidence after failing in movements and elections.
Amidst their frustration, sometimes BNP shouts from behind which is as like as empty vessels sound much but the people do not get confused in such acts, he said.
Expressing deep shock and concern over the Narayanganj mosque blast, the minister said initially the authorities concerned thought that the gas-line leakage or air-conditioned burst may cause the incident while it could be known after investigation whether it was an accident or sabotage.
Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave directives to provide the highest treatment and extend all-out cooperation to the burn injured.
He conveyed deep sympathy to families of those who got injured and died in the blast.
