Enamur, ex-home minister's son Jyoti on remand

A Dhaka court has placed former state minister for disaster management and relief Dr Enamur Rahman on a five-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of Cumilla University student Abdul Qaium (25) in the Savar area during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, rep[ort agencies.
Dhaka Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate KM Mohiuddin passed the order on Wednesday as
police produced the accused before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.
Qaium was gunned down, while taking part in an anti-discrimination rally in the Savar bus stand area on August 5. His mother Kulsum Begum filed the case with Savar Model Police Station.
Meanwhile, a Dhaka court has placed Shafi Muddaser Khan Jyoti, son of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, on a seven-day remand in a murder attempt case filed with the capital's Dhanmondi Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the order on Wednesday as police
produced Jyoti before the court with a seven-day remand prayer in the case.
