EU, IRA delegations hold talks with Jamaat chief

A European Union (EU) delegation has met with Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman amid preparations for Bangladesh's parliamentary election, report agencies.

The meeting took place at Jamaat's central office in the capital's Moghbazar on Tuesday, with a 15-strong team headed by Ivars Ijabs, chief observer of the EU Election Observation Mission.

Meanwhile, an election observation delegation from the US-based International Republican Institute (IRI), currently in Bangladesh, on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer to exchange views on the upcoming election.
