Ex-Chhatra League leader detained in DU hall

Md Al-Amin, former central sub-theatre and debate secretary of the banned student organisation Chhatra League, was caught by students at Surja Sen Hall and handed over to Shahbagh Police Station on Sunday (June 6) noon.

The detainee Al-Amin, a student of the 2011-22 academic session at Dhaka University, also had positions in the hall and university committees.

Sakibul Hasan, a student of the 2021-22 academic session, said, "Some junior students informed us about his presence in Surja Sen Hall. We then contacted Shahbagh police station and handed him over to the police."

Sakib alleged that there are a number of reports, the detained leader used to torture general students in guestroom and force them to attend Chhatra League's programmes, even during their classes and exams.

Khalid Mansur, operation-in-charge of the police station, said a case had already been filed against the detainee with Barguna Police Station for which they would send him to court.
