Ex-minister Sujan sent to jail, as remand ends

PANCHAGARH, Jan 3 (BSS): A court in Panchagarh has sent former railway minister and ex-MP of Panchagarh-2 constituency Nurul Islam Sujan to jail after a three-day remand ended.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Zahid Hasan passed the order on Monday after Manik Mia, a sub-inspector of the Panchagarh Police Station and the investigating officer (IO), produced the ex-minister before the court after a three-day remand ended as Sujan's lawyers did not move bail petition.

Earlier, the investigating officer of the case Manik Mia sought a five-day remand to interrogate Sujan but the court granted a three-day remand in connection with the kidnapping and murder of local easy bike driver Al Amin on August 5.

During the remand hearing, Public Prosecutor Yeasinul Haque Dulal, Assistant Public Prosecutor Abdullah Al Mamun, Mehedy Hasan Milon and 4-5 lawyers were present on behalf of the state side.
