Ex-MP Aziz assaulted at Sirajganj jail gate

SIRAJGANJ, Apr 9 (UNB): Prof Dr Abdul Aziz, former MP from Sirajganj-3 constituency, was assaulted by some students and locals moments after being freed on bail from jail on Tuesday night.

Witnesses said news of Abdul Aziz's scheduled release on bail spread earlier in the evening, prompting a gathering of students and locals in front of the jail.

As soon as Aziz stepped out of the prison, the crowd dragged and beat him before police intervened and took him into custody.

Aziz is currently is under custody at Sirajganj Sadar Police Station.

Humayun Kabir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station said the former MP will be shown arrested in an explosives case filed with Tarash Police Station and will be produced before court for a fresh remand.
