Ex-MP, Brac univ BCL president held

Police have arrested three Awami League (AL) leaders, including former MP from Tangail-5 constituency Md Sanowar Hossain (54), and Brac University unit president of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Md Ibrahim Ansari Apurba (24) in the capital.
The other arrestees are Md Abu Musa Ansari (56), vice president of Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila unit of AL, and Md Salahuddin Salek alias Salek Dhali (58), vice-president of ward no 40 of the capital's Bhatara thana unit of AL.
Deputy Police Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the matter to the media on Sunday.
He said they were arrested in a case filed with Vatara Police Station for their alleged involvement in attacking students and people during the July-August mass uprising.
They were nabbed in a special operation from Saturday to Sunday in the Vatara area.
According to the Police Station, Mithun Fakir, a protester was injured on August 5 following an attack by AL activists during the students-people mass uprising movement on the road located at J block of the area.
A case was filed with Vatara Police Station on December 19 last year. The arrestees were sent to the court.
Police have also arrested the BCL president of Brac University unit Md Ibrahim Ansari Apurba (24) in the capital's Bashundhara area on early Sunday.
He was arrested in a case in connection with his alleged involvement in attacking students and people during the July-August mass uprising.
Ibrahim Ansari Apurba was sent to the court, Mr Talebur said.
