Ex-Titas MD received bribe, finds ACC probe

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) found evidence of receiving bribe by a former managing director (MD) of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd who was accused of taking bribe 'measuring on kilograms'.

Acting on the evidence, the commission on Wednesday decided to file a case against former Titas MD Mir Mashiur Rahman and three others, said ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.

The three other accused are-former manager of Titas's Gazipur region Engineer Sabber Ahmed Chowdhury, Sabber's wife Rumana Risast Jahan and SB Construction owner Md Saiful Islam.

After primary investigation, the commission found evidence of suspicious transaction of Tk 400,036,584 in the bank accounts of the accused.

The ACC will file the case soon against the four persons as per the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947 and Money Laundering Act, 2012.

Besides, the commission has asked Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director Mahbubul Anam to submit his wealth statement after allegations of accumulating illegal wealth against him.
