BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir greeted Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader as they were elected president and general secretary of Awami League respectively, reports UNB.

"We hope they'll work for the welfare of people and establishing people's voting right," Fakhrul said at a programme organised by Jatiyatabadi Sangskritik Jote at the Kochi-Kachar Ashar auditorium in the city on Sunday., marking late film director Chashi Nazrul Islam’s 75th birth anniversary.

Sheikh Hasina was reelected president of the ruling Awami League unopposed for the eighth consecutive time, while Obaidul Quader its general secretary for the first time in the party's 20th council.
