Five activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student front of BNP, were injured in an attack allegedly by leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Muktijoddha Mancha on the Dhaka University (DU) campus on Sunday.
The attack took place when a few leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal were coming towards Madhur Canteen after attending a press conference.
The injured identified as Mamun Khan, Shahjahan Shaon, Tarek Hasan Mamun, Nur Alom Emon and Naeem Hasan were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and the university's medical centre.
Mansura Alam, a JCD activist, claimed that Aminul Islam Bulbul, vice-president of BCL central unit, and Al Mamun, former deputy liberation war and research affairs secretary of its central committee, along with their followers and Muktijoddha Mancha platform's activists carried out the attack.
DU Proctor Dr AKM Golam Rabbani said, "We have heard the matter. If any student is beaten up, we will take steps after investigation. But many of Chhatra Dal activists are not running students."
