Former BNP leader shot dead in Nawabganj

KERANIGANJ, July 2 (UNB): A former BNP leader was shot dead by some miscreants at Dohar upazila of Nawabganj Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Harun-or-Rashid alias Harun Mater, 65, former president of Nayabari union unit BNP.

Hearing the sound of gunshot, local people went out from their houses and found him lying in a pool of blood on the street in front of a school.

Quoting Shaheen, nephew of Harun, officer-in-charge of Dohar Police Station Hasan Ali said Harun was on a morning walk after fazar prayers.

When he reached in front of the school, three people, riding on a motorcycle, intercepted him and opened fire on him, leaving him injured.

Later, he was taken to Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
