Four get life-term for JL man murder in Meherpur

MEHERPUR, Sept 17 (UNB): A court sentenced on Monday four people to life- term imprisonment for killing former panel mayor of Meherpur municipality Mizanur Rahman Ripon in 2011.

The convicts are Abdul Halim, Radil Islam, Masud and Laltu of the district.

The court also fined them Tk 0.1 million each. In default, they have to suffer two more years in rigorous imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, a gang of miscreants swooped on the business establishment of Mizanur Rahman Ripon, a Jubo league (JL) leader and also the former panel mayor of Meherpur municipality and opened fire on him on April 1, 2011, leaving him injured.
