Four kidnappers impersonating movement reps held

Four people have been arrested in Chattogram on charges of kidnapping Pacific Jeans official Abedin Al Mamun and extorting his family for ransom by posing as representatives of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, reports bdnews24.com.
They were taken into custody on Thursday evening after a raid in the Kattali and CDA residential neighbourhoods of Akbar Shah thana in the port city.
The kidnappers are Nazmul Abedin (22), Naimul Amin Imon (22), Arafat Hossain Fahim (22) and Risti Bin Yusuf (23).
According to a press release from the police, the group abducted Pacific Jeans official Abedin Al Mamun and his personal driver from his residence in the CDA residential area on Thursday night to demand a ransom.
Mamun's wife gave them Tk 500,000 in cash and a cheque Tk 1.5 million as ransom. The kidnappers then dropped the abductees off in front of Imperial Hospital before fleeing.
Mamun and his driver were rescued by the authorities when the incident was reported.
The police also raided multiple locations in Chattogram, arresting the abductors from their respective homes.
Moreover, the Tk 500,000 taken as ransom was recovered from Imon's house.
