Golam Mostafa, MP of Gaibandha-1 constituency, who was injured seriously in a road accident on November 18, died at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the city on Tuesday morning.
He breathed his last around 8:00 am, said CMH sources.
The namaz-e-janaza of Golam Mostafa was held at South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad on Tuesday afternoon.
Earlier, on November 18, MP Golam Mostafa, along with his two associates, was traveling to Dhaka riding a microbus. When the vehicle reached Natiapara in Delduar upazila of Tangail on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway, it collided with a bus, leaving the MP and his two associates -- Shahjahan and Manjur - injured.
The injured were first taken to Mirzapur Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Tangail General Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to CMH in Dhaka.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of MP Golam Mostafa.
Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has expressed profound shock at the death of the lawmaker.
