Abdul Hannan Masud, senior joint chief convener of National Citizen Party (NCP) and the party's candidate for the upcoming Noakhali-6 parliamentary election, has allegedly received death threats, reports bdnews24.com.

Masud's uncle Shamsul Tibriz, chief convener of NCP's Hatiya upazila convener committee, filed the general diary (GD) with Hatiya Police Station on Thursday night, according to Md Saiful Alam, the police station's chief.

Shamsul said, "My nephew Abdul Hannan Masud has been receiving public death threats for a long time. We are suffering from extreme insecurity due to repeated intimidation and death threats on social media.

"I am deeply concerned that he may suffer serious harm at any time. That is why I have filed a general diary with the police station. I demand that the administration ensure his safety."

The GD states that on the evening of December 18, a Facebook account with the name ‘Rupak Nandi’ publicly threatened to kill Masud.
