Jatiya Party (JP) chairman GM Quader urged on Wednesday the government to stand by flood victims by checking irregularities in distribution of relief materials, reports UNB.
"Distribute relief materials among the genuine flood-affected people. We won't accept if anyone indulges in immoral acts over the relief," he said.
GM Quader also warned that they will raise the issue in Parliament if there is any irregularity over relief distribution.
The JP chief came up with the remarks while distributing relief materials among 5,000 flood victims in Guthail High School in Jamalpur's Islampur upazila.
He called upon the government to take necessary steps to properly reach the relief materials to the flood-hit people.
Quader said his party will remain beside disaster-affected people as it was in the past.
He said Jatiya Party will also stand by people for assuaging their sufferings and realising their rights.
"Former president and Pollibandhu HM Ershad always stood beside flood victims. We'll also do the same and extend our hand of cooperation to them being imbued with his ideals," the Jatiya Party chief added.
He urged the Prime Minister to properly build the flood-control dams to protect people from floods.
Jatiya party secretary general Moshiur Rahman Ranga and its presidium members Sunil Shuvo Roy and Maj (retd) Khaled Akhter , among others, spoke at the programme.
