Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain on Friday said the government is undertaking diverse initiatives to promote and develop Islamic culture and values, reports BSS.
He emphasised on encouraging the practice of these values across the country while addressing an award giving ceremony as the chief guest.
Islamic Foundation (IF) organised the ceremony of "National Children- Adolescent Islamic Cultural Competition-2025" at the IF auditorium in the capital's Agargaon.
The adviser mentioned in the past, the practice of Islamic cultural was viewed negatively in the country, saying: "No discrimination based on religion should be tolerated."
He said today's children and adolescents are the future leaders of the nation and they will propel the country forward.
Khalid Hossain explained that radius of culture is widespread as it encompasses beliefs, politics, livelihood, dress, behavior, manners and customs, and all of these in combine define a nation's culture.
He also pointed out that the minaret of a mosque and the language spoken by a mother are integral parts of this culture.
The religious affairs adviser also revealed that the IF is planning to organize a national Hifz and Sirat competition, modeled after the national children's and adolescents' competition.
Additionally, there are plans to introduce Sirat awards similar to those in Saudi Arabia, he added. Competitors from the country consistently achieve success in various international Islamic competitions, including Quran recitation, Hifz, Sirat, and Qiraat, he said, adding, these competitors are selected and nominated by the IF.
He also praised the success of women in the country, highlighting that they now occupy high positions at all societal levels.
