Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said the government is going to review gun licences issued during the Awami League (AL) government, reports bdnews24.com.
He also said authorities would examine whether the licences were issued following due process.
"We hope to complete this task very quickly," he said after a meeting with heads of departments and agencies under the home ministry.
"After verification, those who are found eligible will retain their licences," the minister said.
"But if it is found that licences were issued improperly, without due process, or to individuals who obtained them with criminal intent, those licences will be cancelled. At the same time, any weapon held under those licences will be confiscated."
