Hanif urges CHT arms holders to return to normal life

RANGAMATI, Jan 15 (UNB): Joint general secretary of ruling Awami League Mahbubul Alam Hanif urged on Monday the illegal arms holders of Chittagong Hill Tract (CHT) areas to avoid the path of violence and to come back to normal life.

He made the call while speaking at a rally organised by local Awami League at the Indigenous Auditorium in Sadar upazila.

Hanif said, "The government will in no way tolerate terrorism and militancy. It is committed to eliminating the menaces."

He also directed the party's local leaders and activists to continue their organisational work in hilly region without fear, adding, "If any of AL members is attacked during the organiastional work in Hill Tract, the attacker will be dealt with iron hand and no one will be spared."
