Hasina did not serve people, rather swindled money: Rizvi

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday said that the deposed Sheikh Hasina did not serve the people rather she embezzled public money.
"The aim of deposed Sheikh Hasina was not to serve the people. Her aim was to embezzle public money," he said at a programme in Jurain area of the capital.
He also said that the Awami League (AL) had embezzled public money by forming syndicates, which siphoned off billions of taka abroad.
"Those who spoke against Sheikh Hasina and her family members were sentenced to prison," he stated.
He expressed his disapproval of the soaring prices of essential commodities by questioning the interim government about it.
He said that the market syndicates created during the then AL are still behind the price hike of essential commodities.
"Why are you yet to dismantle the market syndicates? People say that the prices of essentials soared during the Awami League government and now the prices are also soaring. Where is the difference?" he pointed out to the interim government.
He was speaking at a programme aimed at creating consciousness among the people on dengue and called upon all to come forward to tackle the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.
Tanvir Ahmed Robin, member secretary of Dhaka city BNP, presided over the event, which was also attended by Salah Uddin Ahmed, former member of parliament, Rafiqul Islam, health affairs secretary of BNP, Parvez Reza Kakon, assistant health affairs secretary of BNP, and Ishraq Hossain, BNP's international affairs secretary.
